About this deal

Aside from her looks and manner, she could also keep up with the Willis, throwing out quips just as rapidly as he did. I have noticed that some of the episodes on the region 1 discs are nearly two minutes longer than its region 2 counterparts.

We will publish your review of Moonlighting - Series 1-5 - Complete on DVD within a few days as long as it meets our guidelines. That's not to say all DVDs will compare like this, but it was an observation i noted between the 2 systems. Moonlighting would still manage good ratings for the 1987-88 season (12th for the season, down from 9th the previous season), but the die was cast. The Dolby Digital Mono track does a solid TV job of picking up all of Willis's cracks, and Shepard's sighs of exasperation. The original point of the show was watching these two people, who cared for each other very much, doing everything possible to never say they cared for each other, all the time cattily bitching back and forth.

As they go to sleep, each of them has a dream where they envision themselves, and their partner, as the suspects in the case. Featuring the first two seasons of the show, this DVD set reminds us how good the show was at the beginning and why it was such a big hit - I remember discussing it at school with my friends the morning after every episode! They talk about the shooting of the pilot as well as the sequences that the network had problems with. The solution to Shepard's scheduling conflicts was conceived and executed out of desperation, and the overall direction of season four was disappointing, because, at least to Willis and Caron, they both knew that creatively, Moonlighting was already over. They talk about the script and how unusual it was to film a TV show in black and white, as well as unfilmed sequences. When supporting characters suddenly take center stage, look out; the show's in trouble (although, I must admit that the parodistic, non-Maddie and David Here's Living With You, Kid is pretty good). Lions Gate has done a great job with this set and seems to have put real care into it, maybe once they learn of this hiccough they'll correct it.

I think I had read somewhere that Moonlighting was released in Europe as a "best-of" dvd set, a year or two ago, and on it they had used the weird new score for "The Lady In The Iron Mask" also. When originally aired, the chase at the end of this episode was scored to the "William Tell Overture. Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) was a very popular, and very well paid, model until she'd earned enough money and retired at a very young age. The Rolling Stone's You Can't Always Get What You Want and the O'Jay's For the Love of Money are included along with many more.

The actors obviously enjoyed working with each other during the show, and this great episode is perfect for their comments. Cannell shows and many others would begin with thirty seconds' worth of clips from the episode, cut together very fast and mostly highlighting stuff blowing up, so the "Moonlighting" episode does the same thing, except the clips are chosen totally at random and cut together in a way that makes no sense. Maddie is a former now (thanks to her accountant) poor super-model, who has two choices: Closing and selling the detective agency she owns or make it a profitable business.
